Welcome to the Hartford Chapter of American Singles Golf Association (HASGA)!
History
The Hartford Chapter of ASGA was started by a young lady who was interested in meeting single people of the opposite sex who were interested in playing golf. She was also hoping to meet that special guy. She succeeded in doing both. In May of 2001, 18 people attended the first meeting of the Hartford chapter. During the first summer golf was played at five local courses. In 2007, we played golf almost 50 times at a variety of courses. Our group now has an average of 110 members.
Our members come from all walks of life. We are a mixed group of professionals, working and non-working. Some members like playing golf more, while some like meeting others more than playing golf. Our golf handicaps range from 7 to 40.
We average 24-28 players per outing and play a variety of formats. In August, we have our own friendly version of the Ryder Cup with our neighboring chapter in Central Massachusetts.
When the golf season is over, we stay busy with a variety of social gatherings, including dining, bowling, playing pool, and music as well as celebrating the New Year and the Super Bowl. Many of our members travel to national ASGA events including New Year’s Eve in Tampa, Pinehurst in May, Saratoga Springs or Cape Cod in September.
Hartford ASGA is a group of single people, who enjoys the camaraderie of golf and the challenge it can bring. After a round of golf, we enjoy a beer, glass of wine or tea and listening to golf stories told over and over again.
We hope you will join us.
